Approach
My approach to photography is laid back and fun. I want my subjects to be comfortable - it's the only way to get natural, relaxed expressions and a true representation of the person being photographed. Children won't be expected to sit still - in fact, they'll be encouraged to play. They won't need to be told to say "Cheese" because they'll be smiling and having fun on their own. The same thing goes for adults. Your shoot will be individually tailored to your needs and the results will be fantastic!
Your Session Details
Phone Consultation
Prior to your session, we'll have a phone consultation to discuss the location and details of the shoot. Your shoot will be one to two hours in the location of your choice. Your home, a favorite park, anywhere there's great natural light. I have good ideas for good locations that I'll share with you. You will also set up the date and time of the shoot and I'll recommend wardrobe options depending on the subject. Keep in mind that simple is always better!
Time
I usually shoot for about an hour or two. I'll shoot as many pictures as I have to so that I can ensure the largest quantity of excellent shots.
Image Capture
I shoot digitally which means any photo I take can be printed in black & white or color and in a variety of sizes. You'll have plenty of great options for timeless prints.
Weather
If we are shooting outside, the most flattering light is available on very bright but moderately cloudy days. Since we can't control nature, I'll always have a back up plan if the lighting conditions aren't perfect. We can shoot outside most of the year as long as you or your child is comfortable with the temperature.
Rescheduling
If you need to cancel for any reason, I'd appreciate at least 48 hours notice. But I understand if there's a last minute sickness.
Proofs and Prints
A private online viewing gallery will be available within two weeks of your session. Your gallery will remain online for seven days. If you need the gallery to remain up longer, there will be a fee of $75 for every three additional days. Orders must be placed via email or phone within 10 days of your gallery posting date. Payment is due in full when you place your print order. You can expect delivery of your portrait order within 4 weeks after your payment is received. Images from your initial order will be kept on file for one year. All images that are not ordered will be purged. Re-orders are subject to a $100 minimum. Prices at time of re-order will apply. All orders are to be inspected by you at delivery and your signature is required stating they meet your approval. After you sign, all sales are final.
Retouching and cropping: Photo retouching is at my digression and occasionally I can perform minor alterations to prints. Significant retouching will have to be outsourced at an additional fee. If you are concerned about hair, makeup, facial blemishes, etc. please ask before the shoot and we can discuss your options. If you request photo sizes that are different than the standard aspect ratio of 4x6, be aware that some cropping of the image will occur. 5x7s, 8x10s and other sizes often require that parts of the image be cropped out. I use my professional judgment to crop images so that they retain as much crucial detail as possible.
